ChatT has launched an early-access beta of a new messaging platform designed to keep user data within Pakistan by running its infrastructure on Internet Computer cloud engines hosted in the country.
The platform offers familiar messaging features including one-to-one voice and video calls, group conversations, public channels, file sharing and media messaging. ChatT also says its messages and media are protected with end-to-end encryption.
According to ChatT, user accounts, messages and files are stored on cloud engines located inside Pakistan rather than in overseas data centres. The platform says this means the data remains under Pakistani jurisdiction.
ChatT is being developed against the backdrop of a broader collaboration between the Pakistan Digital Authority and the DFINITY Foundation. The organisations announced an agreement in February 2026 to establish a Pakistan Subnet of the Internet Computer Platform, with plans that included sovereign digital infrastructure and a national messenger application.
The Internet Computer website now lists ChatT as a sovereign national messenger for Pakistan and says it runs on the country’s cloud engine.
ChatT’s own website says the service has entered beta testing, with access available through TestFlight for iPhone users and a closed testing process for Android users.
The platform also says it will operate without advertising, tracking or data mining. These are product claims made by ChatT and have not been independently assessed in the material available for this report.
The focus on local hosting reflects a wider discussion around data sovereignty, particularly for communications services handling personal information. Internet Computer’s cloud engine model allows operators to choose where infrastructure is located, with the platform describing the approach as giving users greater control over the physical and operational environment in which applications run.
For ChatT, the immediate focus is its beta release and testing of the messaging service. The platform is positioning itself as a locally hosted alternative for users who want messaging, calls, groups and channels while keeping their data within Pakistan.
As the beta develops, user adoption, performance and the platform’s handling of privacy and security in real-world use will provide further evidence of how the service performs beyond its stated design.
