DFINITY promotes Internet Computer as AI infrastructure at first AI event

DFINITY founder Dominic Williams has described the Internet Computer (ICP) as infrastructure for AI agents following the organisation’s first appearance at an AI event, where he said the technology received a positive response from attendees.

In a post following the event, Williams said he had outlined how the Internet Computer could support agentic AI systems, which are designed to carry out tasks with varying degrees of autonomy.

Williams also reported interest in a cloud-related offering presented during his keynote. He said he shared an email address where attendees could apply for cloud engine coupons, adding that applications were already arriving steadily after the event.

He did not disclose the event’s name, the number of applications received or the details of the coupon programme in the post.

Williams described the appearance as the beginning of DFINITY’s involvement in AI events and said further developments arising from discussions with attendees would be shared later.

The Internet Computer is a blockchain network developed by DFINITY that aims to support applications and services running on-chain. Its potential role in AI infrastructure will depend on how developers use the network and how its capabilities compare with other available platforms.

While Williams expressed confidence in the technology’s prospects, his comments reflect DFINITY’s own assessment. The post did not include independent evaluations, adoption figures or technical benchmarks to substantiate its broader claims about the network’s impact in mainstream markets.

The event marks an early public-facing step in DFINITY’s engagement with the AI community, with the promised follow-up details likely to offer a clearer picture of the opportunities being explored.
