LedgerLife Puts News on the Blockchain, One Story at a Time

LedgerLife has introduced The Press, a new platform that allows readers to mint its articles as one-of-one, on-chain collectibles, adding a blockchain-based ownership layer to digital journalism.

Built by Dawn of Machines, The Press allows users to mint a LedgerLife story as a unique digital collectible. Each minted item represents a specific snapshot of an article, preserved on-chain and designed to have a single owner at a time.

The platform uses DOM tokens to facilitate minting and secondary-market transactions. Minting an article burns 100 DOM, permanently removing those tokens from circulation under the platform’s stated mechanism. When a collectible is resold, another 5 per cent of the sale price is burned in DOM.

The model replaces a conventional platform-fee structure with token burns. According to the project, no platform fee is charged, with the burn serving as the mechanism applied to minting and resale activity.

The Press describes its approach as a way for readers to “own the news”, allowing them to collect individual LedgerLife stories as digital assets rather than simply access them as online articles.

The distinction between collecting an article and owning its copyright remains important. The platform states that a press NFT represents a collectible snapshot of a story, not ownership of the article’s copyright. The underlying journalism therefore remains subject to its existing intellectual property rights.

Users can connect through Internet Identity to access the platform’s minting and trading features. Collectibles listed on the marketplace are priced in DOM, and prospective buyers can view available stories before deciding whether to purchase them.

The marketplace’s transaction model directs 5 per cent of a resale price towards a DOM burn, with the seller receiving the remainder, according to the platform’s description. This makes the burn an integral part of the trading mechanism rather than a conventional royalty payment distributed to an author or publisher.

At the time of the platform information supplied, The Press displayed four minted collectibles, three resales and a total of 417 DOM burned. These figures provide an early snapshot of activity, although they do not establish the platform’s longer-term adoption or trading volumes.

One listed collectible was a LedgerLife article titled “Sneed DAO Introduces Mr Sneed as First Step Towards a Self-Writing DAO”, published on 19 October 2026 and offered for 120 DOM. The listing included options to read the original story or purchase its collectible version.

The launch introduces another way for blockchain projects to experiment with digital publishing, using tokenisation to create scarce collectibles from online content. Its longer-term appeal will depend on reader interest, the value collectors place on individual stories and the activity generated through the marketplace.

For LedgerLife, The Press offers a way to connect journalism with on-chain collecting. For readers, it provides an opportunity to acquire a unique digital edition of a story, while the platform’s token-burn mechanism defines how minting and resale transactions affect DOM supply.

As with other blockchain-based collectibles, users should understand the transaction mechanics, token volatility and distinction between owning a digital collectible and holding intellectual property rights. The platform also notes that its offering is not financial advice.

The Press places journalism within a collectible framework, giving each minted story a distinct on-chain identity while tying its trading activity to DOM burns. Whether readers embrace the format will depend on how much value they place on owning a unique digital record of the news.
